The Mortal Nuts are in the studio working on THE KU ALBUM, based on A Book of Ku by Jim Dodge.
The band has contacted us about holding a contest for ku poetry submissions for the 23rd track of the album: write a ku poem and have it turned into a song by The Mortal Nuts. Stay tuned ku poets!
We've just been told that The Mortal Nuts will be releasing a limited release double album on Winter Solstice 2014. The album is called THE KU ALBUM and is rumored to be sonic compositions of the 22 poems in Jim Dodge's master work, The Book of Ku. The limited edition vinyl will be available to members of the bands fan club. Digital downloads will be available via Bitorrent and the bands webpage.
It will be The Mortal Nuts first double album and their 2nd release since forming in June of 2014.
Sooooo, it's been awhile since my last post and a lot has happened. They're running toilets with bottled water in California and 43,000 walruses beached themselves in Alaska. AAANNDD, on a cheerier note, The Mortal Nuts officially formed as a band after Kukuroo2014.
Poet Laureate of The XX, Rumi Buffalo was inspired by Jim Dodge's poem in The Book of Ku, "How to Tell if You're on The Right Trail" that he went home and wrote a song about it. One thing led to another and shortly thereafter he started THE MORTAL NUTS with poet, musician and tech wizard Michael Flynn - next thing you know they got a record contract with ELF/XX Records and they're in the studio finishing up their first EP.

The Life and Times of Tomata Du Plenty looks like a cool project about a cultural icon of the Punk scene that formed much of the music and video media we enjoy today. You don't have to be a fan of Punk music or even have an interest in Art to connect with the subject of this project. Its a mirror and and a microscope. check it: http://kck.st/1lNXwl6
Ships of Years Past Stop-Motion Film is something to be seen: a beautiful composition of techniques old and new. The Rock Paper Books project is creating new cover designs for classic books. I like the concept this project demonstrates of the facility that those with the time, knowledge and initiative can make cover design timely and interesting. It also moves towards a potentially closer relationship between Authors and the cover design of their current works! kuwl!!

what a moment, that space between, an indescribable nothing of fulfillment: one of those "you had to be there to understand" way-points on the path. I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats. Congratulations to SAMUEL WHYTE and Mica Cardillo for 1st Place in the 1st Ku*kuroo** video ku competition! inspiring work Sam and Mica!!
